Pretty please give me a job somewhere?

Yesterday I turned 23.
10,500 miles from home. I’m not homesick, but I’m hungover.

I’m 11,000 miles away from home over the festive period, New Year and my Birthday in the next few weeks, but life is amazing. Such an awesome time in New Zealand in the last 2 months, unbelievably beautiful country. Sydney in the morning for a week over New Year then Melbourne to hopefully settle into some sort of life.
I’ll update www.liamvstheworld.com soon, I’m terrible...

Day 60 - Marlborough Sound, Nelson, Abel Tasman,...
Left Picton, stocked up on food and Gas then drove to Kenapuru Head, a fairly remote place in the Marlborough Sound. Found a DOC campsite – a bit different from what we were used to, it just had cold tap and a composting toilet. Lovely.
Didn’t do much during the day, some reading, writing, cooking and sunbathing. Went for a run later on which was cool as it was so remote, think I saw one...

Day 54 – Rotorua, Taupo, Waitomo and Wellington
The day after the rafting we packed up and left Rotorua. On our way we visitied Te Puia, the Maori centre for culture. It was good but was a bit of a rip off for what we actually saw and learnt. Saw some guysers (the biggest in the southern hemisphere I think) and some mudpools (more smells of shitty sulphor everywhere!) and loads of stuff about Maoris. They do a show at that place that can...

Day 46: The Bay of Islands, The Bay of Plenty and...
Picked up the van, a ‘compact’ Nissan Vanette…
It might be small but it has everything we need, and is home for the next 7 weeks. Picked up a few bits and pieces we needed for the van in Auckland, and then drove out of town to an outlet mall to try and find some running shoes (need to lose the America weight!), we found some shorts, but alas no shoes that we wanted. Got used...

Day 40: Auckland
Arrived in Auckland after the 13 hour flight from Los Angeles. Had some of the worst turbulence I can ever remember about halfway through, which was fun! We weren’t feeling too jet lagged when we arrived - we’d taken off at night and landed in the morning so it felt normal, but we’d lost an entire day because we crossed the date line. I can’t get that back now, could...

I’m finally up to date, well technically not really because I’m in Auckland right now, but yeah, I’m as up to date as I want to be!
This will only interest a select few of my friends in real life I guess, but anyway, here’s my life!

Day 35: Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon
Another city, another Greyhound. So far we’ve spent a lot of time on buses and it’s all gone quite well – so we were due a rough one! We were meant to go from San Diego to Vegas with a bus change in a place called Santa Ana. We got the first bus to Santa Ana and waited for about half an hour, only to be told the second bus wouldn’t be arriving, they told us the best thing to do...

Day 31: San Diego
Started the day with a 2 and half hour bus journey down to San Diego, compared to other journeys this was over in a flash! The hostel was right in the middle of the Gaslamps District of San Diego, it’s the old city centre, now just streets of bars, restaurants and shops. We had a wander round then headed down to the waterfront, and the big shopping plaza in the city centre (sounds like every...

Day 28: Los Angeles
Another 8 hours on a Greyhound bus from San Francisco to Los Angeles, followed by another 2 hours on a couple of local buses to get across LA to Santa Monica – easy! (Ok we made one mistake with a local bus but it wasn’t a big deal). The hostel is 2 streets from the Pacific Ocean and 1 from the main street in Santa Monica, so it’s in a good place! Had dinner then an early night,...

Day 25: San Francisco
4 hour flight from O’Hare to San Francisco was a breeze after some of the journeys in the last few weeks, on time and passed pretty quickly. The flight itself was pretty funny, I’m not sure if all internal US flights are like this or what, but it seemed so casual. The captain came out and give his pre-flight announcement from in the cabin, and treated it like a bit of a stand up...

Day 22: Chicago
Eventually made it to Chicago by about 5pm after leaving Kitchener the night before. It ended up being about an 18 hour journey after we were held up in Detroit for a few hours waiting on a bus. Detroit isn’t worth visting, even just for a few hours. Ever.
Somewhere along the bus journey, I can’t remember where, a rather large woman got on. When I say rather large I mean she was...
I’ve had an unbelievable busy yet amazing week. Partied hard in San Diego, partied even harder in Vegas, somehow made it back to LA, then flew round the world to New Zealand, where I’m currently in Auckland. What a life.
Going to spend the next few days sleeping and getting my life in order before we pick up our campervan home for the next 7 weeks!
Funny story from Vegas - We go to...

Day 18: Kitchener
Spent a couple of nights with my Aunt and Uncle in a place called Kitchener, about an hour or so outside of Toronto. It was great to see them and my cousins, to sleep in a normal bed, have a couple of quiet days and do some washing! However they look after my little Cousin Evan every day, so we were kept entertained with him!
We tried out batting cages when we were there. After watching so...

I think they make special sunscreen for gingers…
Yeah!
It’s called ‘Stay In Doors, You Dirty Rat’.

Day 15: Toronto & Niagara Falls
Arrived in Toronto about 10am after the overnight bus, managed to sleep for some of it, but still pretty tired! Â Went to the hostel, dumped our bags and went for a wander and some an outstanding breakfast. Â Grant decided to man up and by some flip flops so we went and picked those. Â Came back to the hotel, watched a film for a while then were able to check in and get some sleep.
That night we...
I wish I followed/was followed by more people in California. I like it here, I could make friends!

Day 10: Boston
Before we left New York we realised that you can’t really travel in America like you can in Europe, going from city to city and picking up hostels as you go. Â When we tried to book Boston we couldn’t find a hostel with decent reviews, so ended up booking a guest house that had some pretty questionable comments, and was a bit out of town as it was our only option. Â Basically we had no...
Who wants postcards?
Like for realz. I’m gonna send a load before I leave the states!
Tired and Hungover.
Heading off to see Alcatraz in the California sunshine.
Life is hard.
I've been terrible at blogging when away.
I’ll get to it eventually, promise. California Dreamin’ as of tomorrow. Good times.
The amount of time I have in my life for red wine...
This trip is changing me already.

Day 6: New York
I’ve been pretty rubbish at keeping this up to date since I left, hopefully now we’ve got ourselves a little netbook I can do better! Â I’ve been retro and kept an actual journal, so I’ll get them up online in the next few days hopefully…
Pretty shaky start to the whole trip when we nearly missed the flight from Heathrow, there were two flights to JFK at the exact...
Hey Tumblr
Of course I haven’t forgot about you!
I’ve been horrendously bad at keeping my travel blog up to date though, but I’ve got a wee netbook now so I’ll get on that soonish.
In other news I am Toronto and hungover. What’s up with you?
Tumblr
This is it, I’m out.
I leave in 7 hours to spend the next 9 months travelling round the world, it’s going to be a fun old time. I don’t think i’ll be on tumblr so much when I’m away, I’m going to try and keep an actual blog going (it’s a wordpress, i’m sorry tumblr!) at www.liamvstheworld.com, but I’ve set it up to sync with my blog here as...

Day 0: Ready to go
First post. No idea if i’ll manage to make a go of this, or if it’ll be any more than saving me writing a few emails home, but here goes!
I’ve spent the last few weeks looking at other travel blogs, a lot of them seem to start with photos of everything that the individual has packed laid out on the floor beside thier bag. I decided I should do likewise…
My life, or at...

I'm going to buy a book for taking away.
Suggestions? If you know me, you might have a better chance of suggestion something I’ll like. Then again, maybe not.
This whole about to disappear situation is starting to get very real. I’m saying goodbyes to people now because I’m not going to see them for the next year, organising the last few things, piling things up beside my bag and generally starting to get excited!
Also I just packaged up my lovely little iphone to send him off to a new home. Now things are definitely getting real!
So I come home from work, sign in to facebook then get completely lost with all the changes and give up. Then I go sign into my emails, and google says click these boxes and upload and photo and we’ll give you a google+ profile, so I do, and again, I’m completely lost.
I’m 22, yet right now I feel like my Dad with a new phone, I need a son to show me how to work things!

What would Chuck Bass do?
Got home and took those trousers off
Thank god.

After the best part of a day of being uncomfortable, I’ve decided there simply isn’t enough room in these trousers for my bits and bobs.
